courses at the Lighting Research Center of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
and its Landscape Lighting Institute.
She is an associate member of IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers),
a member of the Hudson Valley chapter of the IESNA (Illuminating and Engineering
Society of North America), and a member of the Designers Lighting Forums
of Los Angeles and New York.
A former physical therapist with a Bachelor of Science degree
from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University
in Physical Therapy and a
Master of Arts from New York University in occupational biomechanics, Thea
Chassin brings to her work a unique understanding of how individuals respond
to lighting, and the essential role good lighting plays in revealing form,
structure and detail.
Not surprisingly, Thea Chassin has a passion for creating spaces where
people feel comfortable. “Lighting is transforming. The lighting of your
shop, office or home has a visual impact on everyone who walks or drives
by,” Chassin says. “A well-lit space provides the physical
